Ski-Doo Snowmobile Recall Due to Risk of Fire

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the Ski-Doo snowmobile recall of various 2013 models

Ohio-Personal-Injury-Accident-Attorney-Wright-Schulte-LLCSki-Doo snowmobiles have been recalled by Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) of Canada due to a defect that increases the risk of fires.

The specific defect associated with Ski-Doo Snowmobile Recalled is that the fuel pump inlet fitting may come into contact with the oil tank. This can cause the fuel pump inlet fitting to break and leak fuel, which increases the risks of vehicle fires breaking out. To date, the CPSC has received three reports of Ski-Doo snowmobile Recall fires, though no injuries have been reportedly associated with these fires. However, should consumers be injured due to a Ski-Doo fire, they are encouraged to report the incident and their injuries to the CSPC.

According to the CPSC, about 10,200 recalled Ski-Doo snowmobiles were sold between March 2012 and June 2013 at Ski-Doo dealers throughout the U.S. Consumers who own a recalled Ski-Doo snowmobile have been urged to immediately stop using the vehicle and to get in touch with a BRP dealer in order to have the defect on their snowmobile repaired for free. Authorized BRP dealers will install fuel and oil tank spacers in order to prevent contact between these parts and, therefore, eliminate the risk of fires in these vehicles.

In an effort to protect consumers and prevent possible fire-related injuries, BRP, makers of the Ski-Doo Snowmobile recall has also reached out directly to consumers to notify them of the product recall.
